Why it’s important
All content in CDI is free to access via the Open Journal Systems platform.
Thousands of people access CDI articles, which helps further research and understanding of various public health risks. This open sharing of information can lead to better interventions to protect people’s health and wellbeing.
CDI’s extensive evidence-base of significant academic and research study also informs our work to tackle communicable diseases in Australia.
Five decades of history
CDI has been published as a bulletin, and later a journal, since 1977.
Today, CDI also acts as a historical archive of public health information, with an extensive repository of articles dating back to the journal’s origins.
The Open Journal Systems platform contains all CDI articles published from 1996 onward.
CDI is:
- listed on MEDLINE
- indexed by PubMed, an online searchable index of published articles and authors
- available full-text on
Many of the earliest articles have been kept in hardcopy. You can request scanned copies of CDI articles from 1977 to 1995 by contacting the editorial team.
