Technical supplement – Australian Respiratory Surveillance Report

We compile each ARSR from several data sources. These data sources are used to monitor the:  

• distribution of acute respiratory illness activity in the community 
• severity of infections 
• populations which might be at-risk of being severely affected 
• impact of acute respiratory illness activity on the Australian health system and community.   

Where available, these surveillance reports may also include data on:   

• virological and genomic surveillance  
• vaccine effectiveness.
