Pacific Climate and Health Resilience Package

Climate change is a significant threat to health for Pacific communities. The Pacific Climate and Health Resilience Package aims to strengthen health systems in the Pacific region to address these climate change impacts.

About the package

The Pacific Climate and Health Resilience Package supports Pacific countries to strengthen health systems to manage the health challenges caused by climate change. The package works to:

  • strengthen regional coordination
  • support Pacific leadership on climate and health.

We are delivering this package until 2026–27, in partnership with:

This package is part of the Australian Government’s Partnerships for a Healthy Region Initiative.

Key actions

The 4 key activities in this package are to:

  • undertake a stocktake of climate and health policy action across the region
  • fund the Pacific Network for Health and Climate Change to establish a technical working group to support countries to develop and implement health national adaptation plans
  • partner with one country to develop and implement either a
    • health national adaptation plan
    • vulnerability, capacity and adaptation assessment
  • develop and deliver a strong set of Pacific-focused climate and health activities as part of COP31, to showcase diverse initiatives developed and implemented in the Pacific.
